My office is now accepting applications for our Internship Program in our Encinitas and Laguna Hills offices. We welcome applications on a rolling basis. Our internship program provides an excellent opportunity for undergraduate and graduate students, part-time students, and recent graduates to gain valuable experience in a Senate district office.
 

As a Legislative District intern, your responsibilities will include:
 

  • Interact with the public in an official capacity
  • Work closely with state agencies
  • Attend meetings and events with our dedicated staff
  • Network with influential community leaders
  • Conduct policy research and draft legislative materials
  • Prepare memos, proclamations, and certificates
  • Draft correspondence for constituents on various policy issues
  • Answer phones and manage mail
  • Assist with other administrative and legislative tasks as needed


In this role, you will play a vital part in supporting our office and contributing to our legislative efforts. This is an unpaid volunteer position with flexible part-time hours ranging from 16 to 30 hours per week. We ask for a three-month commitment, although start and end dates are flexible, and there is potential for an extension.
