Human Trafficking: Prevent and Protect Panel

Mark your calendar and save the date for State Senator Catherine S. Blakespear’s Human Trafficking: Prevent and Protect Panel. Join us for a solutions-driven forum featuring four expert panelists to learn about human trafficking in the San Diego region, how to prevent it through education, legislation and enforcement, and how to protect potential recruits and survivors.

Senator Blakespear (D38) will moderate. Panelists include: 

  • Geanie Franco - California Department of Justice Human Trafficking Program Manager
  • Summer Stephan – San Diego County District Attorney
  • Marjorie Saylor - One Safe Place Director of Human Trafficking Services and Awareness
  • Lianne Urada, Ph.D. - SDSU School of Social Work Associate Professor whose research focuses on trafficking on college campuses.  
     

Date: Thursday, July 16, 2026

Time: Registration and community resource tables hosted by local organizations focused on human trafficking open at 6 p.m. (plan to arrive by 5:45 for parking). Program from 6:30 – 8 p.m., with community tables open again till 8:30.
