Sen. Blakespear Issues Statement about Devastating Impact of Trump’s Legislation on California
SACRAMENTO – Sen. Catherine Blakespear, D-Encinitas, issued the following statement in response to U.S. Congress passing legislation pushed by President Trump that extends tax cuts and slashes funding for food banks, health care and other vital services.
“President Trump’s ‘Big, Beautiful Bill’ is a ‘Big, Ugly Lie’ that will have a devastating impact on Californians. It is fiscally reckless by adding an estimated $3.3 trillion to the federal deficit. It gives big tax cuts to the rich while stripping away health care from 2.3 million Californians and slashing funding for food assistance that hungry families rely upon.”
“As a state senator, I do my best to improve the lives of Californians. This legislation will have the opposite effect, increasing poverty and suffering for millions.
