Sen. Blakespear Issues Statement about Revocation of Finding that Climate Pollution Endangers Humans

SACRAMENTO – Sen. Catherine Blakespear, D-Encinitas, issued the following statement in response to the Trump Administration’s Environmental Protection Agency proposing to repeal the scientific declaration on the dangers of greenhouse gases.

"The Trump administration’s attempt to erase the scientific reality that our emissions and air pollution endangers human health is reckless and illegal," said State Senator Catherine S. Blakespear.

"Revoking the endangerment finding dismantles a firm legal foundation that protects our communities from our transportation sector's fumes, our vulnerable populations from heat strokes, and our economy from multi-billion-dollar climate disasters. Climate change is a fact and ignoring sound science is asinine. California will continue to fight and lead the nation in climate-science first approaches."

Elected in 2022, Sen. Blakespear represents Senate District 38, which covers northern San Diego County and part of southern Orange County. Blakespear is the Chair of the Senate Environmental Quality Committee. To learn more about the district and Sen. Blakespear, visit her Senate website.
