I am proud to name Heather Coffey as the Senate District 38 Community Champion for April, due to her exceptional leadership, commitment to service and meaningful impact on both military and civilian communities.

As the Leading Petty Officer at Camp Pendleton, Petty Officer Coffey has shown outstanding leadership supervising enlisted sailors and naval officers while coordinating with numerous community partners and hundreds of volunteers. She has directly enhanced the quality of life and mission readiness of more than 70,000 service members.

Beyond her primary duties, Petty Officer Coffey has demonstrated additional base-wide leadership by voluntarily serving on multiple advancement and career development boards, as well as Sailor of the Quarter board, directly supporting the professional growth and recognition of 27 Sailors across I Marine Expeditionary Force.

Her commitment to service is reflected through more than 500 hours of volunteer work, including her impactful involvement with the Caring, Assistance, and Resources in Emergency/Everyday Situations (C.A.R.E.S.), a nonprofit organization located at the Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton. From organizing food and toy drives to coordinating fundraisers and donation events, her efforts have directly supported military families and the broader community. Her contributions were recognized with the Presidential Volunteer Service Award (Bronze).

Additionally, her pivotal role in executing the annual Professional Development Training Course (PDTC) highlights her ability to lead large-scale initiatives, manage teams and ensure mission success through careful planning and dedication.

Petty Officer Coffey’s strong leadership, integrity and dedication to serving others sets her apart as an outstanding role model. Her positive influence and tireless efforts have left a lasting impact. I am delighted to name Petty Officer Coffer Community Champion of the Month for April.
