Sen. Blakespear’s Encinitas Office Open House Draws Big Crowd

Sen. Blakespear welcomes constituents and local officials to her District Office, talks about her priorities at Saturday event

ENCINITAS, Calif. – More than 200 constituents and local officials attended an Open House held Saturday by Sen. Catherine Blakespear, D-Encinitas, at her Encinitas District Office.

Blakespear hosted the event to show off the new office, talk about her priorities, introduce her staff and listen one-on-one to constituents about their concerns. Held from 1 p.m.-5 p.m. at the district office, located at 169 Saxony Road, Suite 209, it was a “zero waste” event, meaning all the waste generated could go in the green dumpster for anaerobic digestion.

“I want to thank Congressman Mike Levin and everyone else who attended, and especially Francine Busby on my staff who organized the event,” Blakespear said. “I was thrilled to see such a large turnout and grateful to hear directly from so many of my constituents. I continue to feel immensely honored and privileged to represent District 38 and all of its residents in the State Senate.”

The event included snack bars and beverages, tours of the district office and the chance to talk with representatives from the California Department of Motor Vehicles, California State Parks, CalFresh, Covered California, Caltrans and the California Highway Patrol.

Blakespear said her priorities continue to be tackling homelessness and affordable housing issues, reducing gun violence, safeguarding coastal rail travel, protecting the environment and combating climate change. She explained she spends Mondays through Thursdays in Sacramento and the remainder of the week in the district.

She relies on a staff of 15 split among two district offices – the other is in Laguna Hills – and her state Capitol office to help her do her job. Blakespear said constituents should contact her office if they have concerns about issues or legislation or if they need help with any state government matters.

Information about Blakespear’s legislation and activities can be found on her official Senate website. In addition, she emails constituents a newsletter every two weeks. Anyone can sign up on her website to receive it.

Elected last November, Blakespear represents a district that covers northern coastal San Diego County and part of southern Orange County. She previously served as mayor of Encinitas from 2016-2022.
